Ailsa Skuodas,
Community Energy Scotland, Orkney Project Manager


Ailsa is an engineer with a background in renewable energy, specialising in offshore wind and hydrogen. Community Energy Scotland is a nationwide non-profit organisation, where Ailsa is responsible for project managing innovative community renewable energy schemes, predominantly those overcoming grid limitations by matching surplus generation with increased local demand:

• hydrogen generation and usage within a maritime context
• smart grids (active network management and demand side management trials) with EV charging and domestic heating systems.

Ailsa is involved in the delivery of the Surf ‘n’ Turf project (Scottish Government funded), BIG HIT (EU funded) and SMILE (also EU). Prior to joining CES, Ailsa worked on the Moray Firth Offshore Wind Farm, where she was involved in technical support for foundations and substructures, as well as port and harbours selection for logistics and installation purposes
